We are here full-time and need help with general construction projects, landscaping and general maintenance. No set schedule and we tend to work no more than 5-6 hours a day mostly. We go out of our way to reuse materials we salvaged from this place even if it means spending more time transforming or recovering it. We kept everything we deemed useful and then some.
This winter, lots of indoor woodwork and finishing. Outdoors, weather permitting, cutting down a few trees and clearing the forest brush for walking trails. This spring and summer, hardscaping projects like deckwork, fixing a dam and footbridges over the stream. If gardening is your thing, we are getting our vegetable patch underway when the snow melts. And there's always helping out with regular rural household maintenance. You should be physically able to do a bit of hard work on occasion, although you can expect us to working just as hard alongside with you !
We are about 3 kilometers away from Montebello, a small village whose claim to fame is the Fairmont Chateau Montebello, the world's largest "log cabin". Bus service passes through twice a day from either Montreal or Ottawa. By car, it's an hour away from both these cities and their airports (YUL and YOW).
We have two separate bedrooms and a full separate bathroom available for guests. We also have high-speed Internet.
Nous parlons francais a la maison. Hablamos espanol tambien. English, of course.
So write us a personal note for a quick response.

About the Host : André et D
Ici André et Daniel, who have decided to leave our comfortable urban existence and throw ourselves into the rural life. We haven't quite gone off the grid or gone full farming though. We bought an old conference center that used to be part of a vacation resort. The past six years of our lives has involved a lot of renovation work turning this commercial building into our home and our future life project. We haven't quite figured out what the life project part yet, but that was the point of us taking a sabbatical to let it unfold...naturally! As former urban landscapers, we are stoked by the challenge of greening up a larger space, 5 acres in all. Come give us your insight and ideas!
